I spent this afternoon in Long Beach at the Long Beach Promenade. It is all the things that the name suggests: a pleasant car-free path to walk or bike, lined with restaurants and green spots, and overlooked by apartment balconies. All the things that our Downey Promenade isn't—at least, not yet.
