The smoky mountains

Rio Hondo Riverwalk

The recent time change and summer-like weather mean just one thing—there is time for a very pleasant evening walk along the riverbed!

It was just after sunset, and the fascinating thing about the lighting at the time was that it highlighted the layers of mountains in the distance, giving our local mountains a "Smoky Mountains" effect.

  1. I see the river is as dry as when I lived in the area. How often does it get water? When is the last time you saw it looking like a real river?

    1. It's been years since I've seen the water up to the top. It seems like ages since we've had more than a single day or two of rain, and it takes more than that to fill up the rivers.
