Still life

Sometimes it's the simple things in life... I am out of town traveling for work. I had a knock at my hotel door and it was a hotel employee bringing me a bowl of fruit as a welcome gift. It was a kindness and I appreciated the simple beauty of the fruits as well as the healthy treat.

Grapes, grapes, and more grapes

We haven't shared any alley pictures lately. This particular wall along the alley has been overcome by these grapevines. They look like they have taken over. I liked how the vines were spilling over the wall and into the alley. It gave an element of drama to the wall.
I wonder if they have to harvest their grapes often...I have to admit a little jealousy. My grapes have never done this well.

Summer time fruit
Summer is the best time for fruit. Our downtown Downey Farmers Market has beautiful choices.
Did you know that grapes are a great source of Resveratrol, an anti-oxidant known to play a protective role against cancers of colon and prostate, coronary heart disease (CHD), degenerative nerve disease, Alzheimer's disease and viral/fungal infections? They are also a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin K.
