One of Downey's churches has an unusual tradition to celebrate Christmas. They meet together at 6:00 am on Christmas Day to sing Christmas songs and read through the Christmas account. After an hour of this they meet again for a breakfast potluck. Then the congregation goes home to continue the day's celebration.
The church is filled with members from the church and some even that come from other churches since their churches do not celebrate on Christmas morning. This allows the congregation to celebrate Christmas by focusing on the risen Lord that was born that first Christmas morning.
