Wednesday night was the Downey Bicycle Coalition's first Ice Cream Social Ride of the summer. It was advertised as a "short 9mi ride...on an EASY-paced, beach cruiser-friendly loop through Downey with a stop at ColdStone Creamery and nearby U-Swirl Frozen Yogurt."
California law requires drivers to stay at least three feet away from cyclists while passing. I like the bright-colored shirt that is sure to serve as a reminder to drivers who pass this group tonight.I also like the idea of rewarding myself to ice cream during a ride.
